With the global emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic, the lives of college students have been overthrown as they have been asked for leaving college campus and considering the new living situations. And during this period of social isolation, abrupt moves, and uncertainty, they are becoming susceptible to the feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression. 1. Keep up a Daily Regime
Start your day nearly the same time. Make a target for coursework for being finished for every morning and afternoon. Keep up sufficient nutrition by including three healthy meals daily. You can try new recipes also. Indulge in at least one physical activity daily. It’s awesome for your mental health.
2. Beware of News Exposure
You should stay informed, but you must also know when you require a pause from annoying news. Just take breaks for joking with friends, reading books, or watching movies. College students must be mindful of the ways the news is making them feel and how much news they can consume. It would be better to avoid and practice some self-care activities during this time.
3. Maintain Crucial Social Connections
This is a completely separate experience for students. Ponder shifting over texting or social platform to more interpersonal communications like video or phone calls with friends. Make strategies for participating in online activities or watching shows remotely together. It’s time to get creative regarding keeping up crucial social connections!
4. Utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Skills
Don’t forget how your thoughts impact your feelings and behavior patterns. In case you are getting a negative thought, just transform it into a positive one. Practice self-care activities and good infection control practices. Now repeat these positive thoughts many times daily.
5. Keep up Structure as Much as Possible
Alongside moving from in-person classes to online learning, students have just lost much of their daily regime. Due to this, they need to maintain a structure of coping skills. Self-care practices, nutrition, good sleep hygiene, functions outside of screen time are included in this structure. They need to retain these practices as much as possible, especially in case the choices of students are more restricted in terms of where they can go and what they can do.
6. Take a Break
A college student must take time for himself/herself every day. Keep yourself away from the exposure of news and your coursework for doing something enjoyable, rejuvenating, and relaxing.
7. Maintain Good Sleep Routine
Your sleeping target must be 7 to 9 hours every night. Restrict screen time in the evening and don’t drink coffee in the afternoon.
College students must follow these tips for coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. These help students with mental ailments and adjustment problems live more productive lives to make sure the biggest possibility of both personal and academic success.
